Symphony Brownies
Posted on 30 June 2010
Brownies are one of the most perfect snacks to take somewhere or even just to enjoy at home. They can be cut into small pieces, they require very little in the way of presentation and everybody loves them.
So it makes sense that we would mess with something so perfect and try to make it even better! I’ve got several more involved recipes that are fabulous and so many more that I’m wanting to try. But in the end it seems like I’m always pressed for time and I fall back to these.
The Symphony Brownie is always a crowd pleaser and the perfect example of that is last Monday night. We had our Mission Crafts Ministry meeting at church and I brought a pan of these. The ladies loved them and one lady took a brownie to her husband who just happened to be down the hall in a men’s Bible Study. Next thing we know a group of men came knocking on the door asking if they could have one too!
SYMPHONY BROWNIES
one box brownie mix (I used Betty Crocker this time, but it doesn’t matter)
2 6.8 ounce Symphony candy bars
Preheat oven and prepare the brownie mix as listed on the box. Spread half the mixture into a pan sprayed with Pam, smoothing the top with a spoon. Place the candy bars across the top of the batter, then top with remaining batter. Cook according to brownie mix directions.
Let thoroughly cool, then cut into brownies. Prepare to blush when asked for the recipe.
This is what it looks like when you’re preparing the pan. I ended up putting some smaller pieces in between the two columns of candy bars.

I tried these at Christmas and my guys really liked them. I liked them when they were just out of the oven and had only cooled a few minutes. I used one of those new pans that you see on TV that make the individual brownies in one pan. I poured in all the batter, put in the divider. Then I broke the candy bar into pieces. Put one in each brownie. Pushed it down into the batter and used a knife to sort of scoop the batter over it. It worked. I’ll make them again.
